Sleeping Beauty Sparkling Success

The evil witch Maleficent tried to hold dominion over pantoland at Newington community primary school in Ramsgate.

But she reckoned without the kindness of Sleeping Beauty, her prince, and the cast that triumphed in a sparkling festive feast of song, dance, fun and music.

The colourful production also featured the dame, king and queen, chamberlain, a panto horse, gargoyles, henchmen Tish and Tosh, and many more.

It was staged by members of the school’s drama club and featured a cast and crew of seven to eleven year olds, who presented the show twice, to parents and friends, and then to the school.

Teacher Tim Knight, who adapted the story of Sleeping Beauty for the school, said: “This is a real team effort with great support from the staff as always.

“The drama club is important as it helps our children develop self-esteem and confidence, team work and communication skills. It is hard work for them but a huge amount of fun too.”
